Florida Oceanographic
T.E.A.M. OCEAN

Program Overview:

Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center is now accepting applications for TEAM (Teens Excited About Marine life) Ocean.  TEAM Ocean is a competitive summer internship program for students in middle school and high school.   Students that are interested in pursuing a career in education or the marine sciences are encouraged to apply.  This program satisfies the service hours required by most schools and is a substantial addition to resumes and college applications.  Please note: There are a limited number of positions available for TEAM Ocean participants.  TEAM Ocean Interns will be selected based on a combination of application, letter of recommendation and interview.

Program Details:

This is a 10-week non-paid internship that officially begins June 4 and will run through August 10.  The 2007 program will be divided into 4 levels, each providing a hands-on opportunity for learning.  All interns are required to commit to working a minimum of 80 hours throughout this 10 week period.  Interns will work with staff and volunteers to ensure a positive and educational experience for our visitors of all ages.  Interns, Volunteers, and staff share the responsibility for the daily operations of the Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center.  This includes but is not limited to: opening and closing the center, maintaining exhibits and maintaining a clean atmosphere in and around the Coastal Center.  See qualifications and level descriptions on page 2 for more information about each of the internship opportunities available for 2007.

Program Fees:

We are once again able to offer this internship program at no upfront cost to the participants.  A grant from Bank of America enables us to keep any costs to you at a minimum.  There will however, be certain fees associated with program activities and the end of summer field trip.  We will notify participants and their parents prior to such activities and will do our best to minimize expenses.
