Coastal Estuaries Alert
STOP the discharges!
Col. Pantano attended the South Florida Water Management District's Governing Board meeting on May 13th. The meeting also brought out about 75 speakers, including Mark Perry taking a stand to stop the discharges from Lake Okeechobee into the Estuaries. Perry provided an informative handout with information on the discharges and their effects on the estuary; including salinity, oysters, seagrass habitat, Mangrove marshes, nearshore reefs and other sealife. He also handed out samples of the Muck taken from the St. Lucie Estuary on April 21, 2010. Click for Handout pdf
